Cincinnati Public Schools
8th Grade Career Day KICKs IT IN!
OPPORTUNITY: The Cincinnati Public Schools hosted an event for every eighth-grade student who attended any of the thirty K-8 schools in the district. This career day program served as a culminating experience for the 2008-09 Ninth-Grade Application Period, during which time each student selects which high school in the district they wish to attend. The goal was to help eighth-graders take what they learned about careers and connect them to one of the Career-Technical Pathways offered in the district’s seventeen high schools.
RESULTS: Working closely with the CPS Education Center, we created a customized assembly-type program which was repeated six times throughout the day. Following the event, we edited together a video summary which highlighted the day’s activities and shared snippets from the presentation.
